2nd post book book recommendation
I was reading a book over the sumer, it was actually the prequel to the book i am reading for class currently. This book is called Shadow and Bone. It is about a nation that has been split in two by something called the fold. The fold is a stretch of sand going through the country. It may not seem dangerous but it is filled with monsters called the Volcra, which are winged beasts that love eating people. It doesn't help either that no light can pass through the fold so they must bring their own lamps through with them, which also attracts the Volcra. A girl named Alina Starkov finds herself in a mysterious world with new powers, she must find a way to take use of these powers to save her country. But some of her closest allies start to seem a little crooked...

I am reading the book siege and storm. This book is a sequel to the book shadow and bone, which I read for the summer assignment. My book has plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make predictions, like when Aline, the main character finds evidence of a mystical creature that could amplify her powers on page 97. This makes me want to ask what she is going to do. Will she hunt the creature, or leave it to its own devices. I predict that she will find the bird and use it to amplify her powers. another question I had was if Sturmhond was lying about him being a prince. he had all of the proof, but because he was a privateer, he has a history of lying about a lot of things. I predicted that he is actually a prince, because he has all the proof, and his crew didn't seem that surprised when he took off his mask and called himself the prince.
In the book i chose, there also places where i can make text to (blank) connections. One is on page 169, when the prince is talking about an 'endless' list about where he wants to stop in a town. i can make a text-to-self connection here. Over a while, my siblings have made an endless list of all the places they want to eat and shop at, I feel like i can relate to the prince here. Another connection I made was from the entire book to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Both of the books have magic, and one magician that is better than the rest must rise up and fight a powerful and ancient enemy. This is a text-to-text connection. The last connection i made was a text-to-world connection. On page 191, the prince is explaining to Alina how he plans to take the throne from his older brother, he tells about he plans to use Alina's political power to steal the throne. in the real world, people sometimes do weird things like this to get a important position. This book has given me lots of opportunities to make connections, predictions and create questions. It is a good book and i would recommend it to anyone.
